My name is Jim Rupert. I’m an American foreign correspondent, now in Washington after eight years in South Asia. (The picture at the top of the page is from the Kunar Valley
of Afghanistan, one of the countries I’ve covered often over the years.) I got hooked on living and working abroad when I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco in 1980-82. In the roughly 30 years since, I’ve lived in South and Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. On these pages, I’m gathering some of the stories I’ve found.
